Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Both non-excited and DC-excited synchronous motors are types of synchronous motors, but they differ in their rotor construction and method of excitation. Also known as a "permanent magnet synchronous motor" (PMSM), the non-excited type of motor has a rotor that contains permanent magnets. The permanent magnets generate a constant magnetic field on the rotor, eliminating the need for any external excitation. High efficiency & low maintenance due to the absence of excitation losses. A DC excited synchronous motor has a rotor with windings, which are supplied with DC current from an external source. The DC current flowing through the rotor windings creates a magnetic field, which synchronises with the rotating magnetic field of the stator. Precise speed control due to the ability to adjust the DC current supplied to the rotor windings.
Synchronous motors have a fixed synchronous speed which means the rotor speed is synchronised with the rotatory magnetic field of the stator winding, while asynchronous motors have a speed that varies with the load and rotor speed is not synchronised with the rotatory magnetic field of the stator winding. Synchronous motors are used in applications where precise speed control is required. On the other hand, Asynchronous motors are widely used in various industrial and commercial applications due to their simple design, robustness, and ability to handle variable speed loads
In the context of a synchronous motor, the duty cycle refers to the ratio of the motor's operating time to its total cycle time over a specific period. It is commonly expressed as a percentage and represents the amount of time the motor operates at full load or a specific load condition compared to the total time. For example, if a synchronous motor operates at its full load for 60% of the time and remains idle for the other 40%, the duty cycle would be 60%. This means that the motor is subjected to a load for half of the operating cycle and remains unutilized for the other half.
Miniature synchronous motors find applications in various industries and devices where precise control, compact size, and synchronous operation are essential. These miniature synchronous motors are chosen for their accurate speed control, low noise, and compact design. The use of miniature synchronous motors can enhance the performance and efficiency of the devices they are integrated into. Some common uses of miniature synchronous motors include timing applications such as in synchronous clocks, timers in appliances, tape recorders and precision servomechanisms. Other examples include camera autofocus mechanism, optical disc drives, printers and scanners, small fans, cooling systems, electric shavers, etc

We are very pleased not only with the end result, but with the entire process of working with Mechtex. The amount of patience, guidance, and knowledge that they displayed throughout the whole process made them a very easy and enjoyable partner to work with.
Mechtex is a great consulting partner. They have shown consistency and high integrity over the course of our relationship. We are very impressed with their commitment and outstanding quality.
Mechtex has been outstanding to work with, and has been instrumental in getting our requirements fulfilled on time and within budget. We have worked with other vendors in the past that have will do what you ask for but no more and do not necessarily understand the end state and the why behind it
The Mechtex team helped build our complex and custom motor connector from scratch on-time and with excellent quality. They were very knowledgeable in the domain and very professional. We are looking forward to working with them on an ongoing basis

Why Reduction Gearheads

Why Reduction Gearheads

Reduction gearheads use the concept of gear reduction which implies that the gears reduce the speed of the machine but increase its torque. They are usually made of steel, hardened metal, nylon, plastic or rubber gear. The usage of sintered gears is also increasing to decrease the expense of gear production. These are self lubricating. They are available with a variety of mounting options, reduction ratios and output shafts
